eBay knew Generative AI had significant potential to reshape search, loyalty, and shopping experiences across the platform. What they needed was a way to get engineering, AI developers, product, design, and leadership teams aligned, experimenting, and moving fast. frog facilitated a 90-person design sprint with cross-functional teams to explore, test, validate, and prototype AI integrations throughout the app. The work surfaced hundreds of AI concepts and produced two key outputs: a sizzle reel to communicate key explorations to consumers, and a prioritization playbook for the eBay team to downselect and advance the most promising directions. Specfically, my role was one of the 6 frog faciliators and sprint co-host with co-creator of the speculative futures programming. I ensured the voices of the AI developers were heard and that a working prototype was created with some real-life data sources within the sprint program.

The Sprint

Bringing 90+ people across search, loyalty, and shopping into a single design sprint required a facilitation structure built for scale. The session moved through rapid cycles of exploration and validation, keeping diverse teams aligned while preserving space for genuine experimentation. Every team left with testable prototypes and a clearer sense of what AI could do in their specific product area. From this work multiple engagements sprung up to continue the potential we uncovered.

Outcomes

The sprint produced prototypes across multiple product surfaces, a sizzle reel for internal communications, and a structured playbook to guide the eBay team as they evaluate and prioritize the concepts generated. The work gave eBay a repeatable model for running AI experimentation at scale across their product organization.
